Relentless Energy Sessions Update

With The Molotovs and much more!

The ash has settled, Spring has arrived, and the next Relentless Energy Session is just around the corner!

Let those hedonistic party times commence. This month those guys at Relentless will be providing the gig goers of Highbury and Islington with yet another delightful pick ‘n’ mix of delectable indie nuggets, proving yet again that they know their stuff (and that variety is the spice of life)…

Fierce Panda rarely fail to disappoint the discerning music fan with their string of success stories and indie-pop rich rosta. This newest signing confirms that they’ve certainly still got it going on. Fresh from their Camden Crawl foray, and with their likeable breed of melodic indie, London five-piece The Molotovs could be line for the next foppish indie crown. This is quintessentially British indie, which the crowds of north London will wholeheartedly embrace, I can guarantee. But be warned, The Molotovs are more Seafood than Seahorses, so put that parka away!

On a similar vein are Arrows of Love , a leftfield indie supergroup of sorts, who formed from the ashes of Hush The Many (Heed the Few) and includes members of Jamie T, Kid Harpoon and Eraserheads. Arrows of Love are not your average self-promoting bright young things though, they renounce the vacuous commercial excesses of the modern age and the fickle nature of celebrity, preferring to go it alone and pour all their energies into their live shows (which are pretty raucous). And this band are also braver than your average Joe. After their previous bassist threw the towel in, Arrows of Love’s latest recruit had just ten days to learn ther instrument before the band’s first gig. Impressive. And with bittersweet male-female vocals which evoke the golden age of shoegaze, you are in for a real treat…

If that’s not enough to get you indie bopping on the spot, then Belfast three-piece Not Squares are on hand to really get the Relentless party started. With their energetic punked-up disco beats, just think Foals and Battles (on copious amounts of speed) and you will be halfway there. Not to be missed.

Also on the bill this month are philosophical post-punk quartet Dualist who channel the Joy Division vibe, but keep it bright and breezy with their catchy new wave melodies, a la Talking Heads. With the expertise of Nick Cave’s engineer on board, expect great things from these boys…
