Red Hot Chili Peppers are set to play two massive outdoor shows in the UK next summer.
One of the biggest bands on the planet just got bigger. Returning with their new album, Red Hot Chili Peppers topped charts around the globe, emphasising the continuing scale of the funky brothers.
Capable of selling out stadiums across the globe, the band recently arranged a British tour. Tickets sold out within minutes, as fans clamoured for their first chance to witness Red Hot Chili Peppers in the flesh for over five years.
Focussing on indoor shows and arenas, Red Hot Chili Peppers will launch the tour later this month. Looking ahead, the band have begun to outline their plans for 2012 after announcing two outdoor shows.
The Californian band will play just two British shows in 2012, but each will be an epic undertaking. Red Hot Chili Peppers will play Knebworth on June 23rd, tackling the crucible of British rock.
The following day, the band will travel to Sunderland’s Stadium of Light to play a one off show on June 24th.
The massive dates are two of the biggest shows the band have undertaken, with thousands of fans due to descend on each concert. Intriguing, the group’s last appearance in the North East came in 1990 – at the 400 capacity Newcastle Riverside venue.
Probed for a comment, Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman Anthony Keidis said: “Our philosophy is we’ll play any day, any time and we’re coming to do Knebworth and Sunderland”.
Tickets for both shows go on sale at 9am this Friday (November 4th). Demand is expected to be huge, so be quick or miss out!
