Reading Festival 2024: Weather + Traffic

A beloved mainstay within the festival circuit, here's all you need to know ahead of the bank holiday weekend.

Reading & Leeds Festival is swinging back around for yet another heavy-weight weekend, priding one of its most diverse editions yet. On the one hand, the line-up welcomes blockbuster acts Blink-182, Liam Gallagher and Fred Again… to the mainstage, whilst spotlighting some of the most exciting, fresh talent across the land. Flitting between The Last Dinner Party, Zino Vinci, Nia Archives, Hak Baker and FLO, the festival offers something for everyone, leaning into a fluid, cross-generational curation.

Running between Wednesday 21st August to 25th, Reading Festival will be met with sunny intervals and light showers across the weekend, according to the MET Office

August 22nd is expected to remain dry and cloudy for the rest of the evening, eventually cooling down to 15 degrees Celcius. Picking up in temperature for the 22nd, light rain will change to sunlight by mid-day, promising highs of 22 degrees Celcius. The following day will be hit with cooler, heavier rain, set to clear by the late afternoon, all through to the 26th.

For those travelling by train, Reading station is a 15-20 minute walk from the festival site. Alternatively, Big Green Coach are offering the most sustainable method of travel, priding a carbon-neutral service directly to the festival’s coach park from 42 UK pick-up locations. 

Drivers are advised to carefully plan their journeys on the motorway, with planned closures around Richfield Road and Cow Lane. Peak departure times are between 8:00AM and 1:00PM on 26th August.
