British songwriting legend Ray Davies is amongst the latest additions to the line up of Spanish festival Benicassim.
Held close to Barcelona, FIB Benicassim is an enormous festival of music and art. Returning for a fresh instalment this summer, organisers are working hard behind the scenes to make sure the event goes off without a hitch.
Already confirmed for Benicassim are British rave-rock heroes The Prodigy, Kasabian and Ivy League Afro-pop outfit Vampire Weekend. The latest additions to the event contain some very special names, with Ray Davies set to drop by.
As the lead singer of The Kinks Davies carved out a uniquely British pop sensibility. Now working solo, the songwriter is attempting to put the finishing touches to an album of new collaborations.
Due to perform at Benicassim, Ray Davies is set to be joined by the likes of Charlotte Gainsbourg and superstar pairing Broken Bells.
Comprised of Danger Mouse and James Mercer of The Shins, the duo recently released their acclaimed debut album. Live shows are few and far between, making this appearance extra special.
Meanwhile chic techno don Prins Thomas is set to drop by, while Northern Irish electro-rockers The Japanese Popstars are also due to perform.
Joy Division legend Peter Hook is to re-visit the band’s seminal album ‘Unknown Pleasures’ with an all star cast before taking part in The Hacienda night alongside DJs Graeme Park and Justin Robertson.
FIB Benicassim takes place between July 15th – 19th.
