Ray Davies Cancels North American Shows

But adds Royal Variety Show

Ray Davies has been forced to cancel his upcoming North American tour due to a “medical condition”.

Returning with his new album of duets, ‘See My Friends’ has demonstrated the continuing reputation of Ray Davies. Attracting some enormous names, the likes of Alex Chilton, Bruce Springsteen and more have taken part in recording.

A unique tribute, Ray Davies organised sessions himself. Taking the album on tour, the one time Kinks songwriter recently set off on a series of North American dates but has been ordered to cancel the shows.

According to a statement from the singer, ,a href=”http://www.clashmusic.com/feature/king-kink-ray-davies-interview”>Ray Davies has been ordered by doctors to cancel the tour. The singer is on medication which prevents him flying or travelling extensive distances.

So obviously a tour of the United States is out of the question. A statement on BrooklynVegan reports: “Ray [Davies] personally did not want to cancel this tour but was ordered by his doctors not to fly or travel until his medical condition has stabilised to their satisfaction.”

“At this moment, his doctors could not provide a time frame as to when he could travel to the US.”

Fresh from the release of ‘See My Friends’ the dates will be re-arranged for some time next year. Meanwhile, Ray Davies has confirmed a special appearance at this year’s Royal Variety Show.

Taking place at the London Palladium on December 9th, the songwriting legend will perform ‘Lola’ alongside Paloma Faith. Shown on the BBC on December 16th, the partnership echoes a recording on ‘See My Friends’.

‘See My Friends’ is out now.
