Rage Against The Machine are set to retire from touring.
The rap metal legends originally split in 2000, before reconvening in 2008. Sporadic re-union tours have followed, alongside an unlikely Christmas No. 1 in the UK with their anti-authoritarian hymn ‘Killing In The Name Of’.
Now it seems that the reunion is over. The band’s Public Service Announcement tour ran into difficulty last year, with Rage Against The Machine forced to postpone or cancel a number of shows due to health issues – including a Reading and Leeds festival headline spot in 2022.
Now Brad Wilk has offered confirmation. In a note on socials, he says “I don’t want to string people or myself along further” before stating: “I want to let you know that RATM (Tim, Zack, Tom and I) will not be touring or playing live again.”
The statement reads:
“I know a lot of people are waiting for us to announce new tour dates for all the cancelled RATM shows. I don’t want to string people or myself along further. So while there has been some communication that this may be happening in the future… I want to let you know that RATM (Tim, Zack, Tom and I) will not be touring or playing live again. I’m sorry for those of you who have been waiting for this to happen. I really wish it was…”
He finishes: “Bottom of my heart.. Thank you to every person who has ever supported us.”
