Radiohead drummer turned solo star Philip Selway has confirmed a series of UK tour dates.
Nestled behind his drum kit, Philip Selway has played an integral role in one of Britain’s most celebrated bands. Sure, he may not contribute greatly to songwriting but his steady presence has eased Radiohead through some remarkable artistic shifts.
Asked to take part in a songwriting project by Neil Finn, Selway jumped at the chance. Taking place in New Zealand, ‘Seven Worlds Collide’ saw the drummer attempt to write his own material for the very first time.
Joined by the likes of Wilco and Johnny Marr, the project sparked something new in Selway. The Radiohead drummer began working on new material, with the resulting album ‘Familial’ due to be released later this year.
Snapped up by revered indie Bella Union, the album is a confident and assured debut. Perhaps all those years working alongside Thom Yorke have rubbed off…
Due to hit the record racks on August 30th, ‘Familial’ will be followed by a series of British tour dates. Starting with a set at Ireland’s Electric Picnic the Radiohead star will mix solo shows with festival slots.
The singer will also tour with Wilco, re-creating the ‘Seven Worlds Collide’ bond. Over the course of three shows Philip Selway will play support to the alt country dons, finishing in Glasgow’s historic Barrowlands venue.
Tickets for the dates go on sale soon, with these shows representing a rare chance to catch the Radiohead star in such intimate environments.
Philip Selway has confirmed the following shows:
4 Ireland Electric Picnic
11 Isle Of Wight Bestival
12 Larmer Tree Gardens End Of The Road
14 London Royal Festival Hall (with Wilco)
15 Newcastle Academy
16 Glasgow Barrowland
