Radiohead Reveal Tour Plans

Shows to focus on 'The King Of Limbs'

Radiohead have revealed more details of a full world tour planned for next year.

Radiohead don’t do normal shows. By ‘normal’ of course we mean shows where a band ambles on, trots out a dozen or so songs before waving goodbye and eventually returning for an encore.

Rather, what Radiohead specialise in are enormous concerts in unusual venues which stamp themselves on the memory of anyone lucky enough to grab a ticket.

Rumours of a world tour have been circulating for some time, with the band confirming plans to head out on the road next year. Speaking to 6Music, guitarist Ed O’Brien assured fans that a tour would take place in 2012.

“We’re finalising dates now” he said “we’ll be on the road from the end of February to November and we’ll be playing in both the UK and US, the usual ports of call”.

Continuing, Ed O’Brien revealed that the forthcoming dates would focus on their new album ‘The King Of Limbs’. It has to be a set in itself, last time we went out it was ‘In Rainbows’ and a greatest hits” he said. “It’s not going to be like that this time. It’s going to be predominately from this record and the last one and then we’ll see which songs fit around that.”

Radiohead last toured the UK in 2009, playing a number of outdoor shows. This time round, explains the guitarist, the Oxford giants will perform a series of indoors concerts. “Some of the shows will be outside, but the ones in Europe will be inside and I think that’s very much a reaction to when we played last time”.

“We played in the height of summer and compromised our production. Outdoor gigs can be great, but the sound can get diluted, you’re at the mercy of the elements and I think the record demands a space where the music is loud, strong and detailed.”

No tour dates have been confirmed as yet.
