Public Image Limited Add Two London Shows

'Metal Box' run to continue

Reformed post punk pioneers Public Image Limited have added two London dates to their upcoming tour.

Public Image Limited were formed as a means of securing John Lydon’s freedom. Chained to the persona of Johnny Rotten, the singer had been slashed by razor wielding thugs angered at his supposed anti-royalty stance.

Amid growing frustration over the direction of punk and his own band The Sex Pistols the singer split. Snapped up by Virgin records he began assembling a new group indebted to Krautrock, dub and even prog.

Debut album ‘First Edition’ was a success, but its follow up ‘Metal Box’ saw Lydon channelling something otherworldly into the vinyl.

Released in a tin – hence the title – ‘Metal Box’ subverted the album format. The music inside was like nothing anyone had ever heard before, remaining hugely influential over three decades after its release.

On hiatus for fifteen years, John Lydon recently confirmed that Public Image Limited were open for business again.

Confirming a series of shows the singer promised to perform ‘Metal Box’ in its entirety. Using long time collaborators sadly John Lydon is the only survivor from the initial recording sessions.

Kicking off with a show in Birmingham on December 15th the tour will wind its way around Britain. Public Image Limited have now added a pair of London dates, due to take place in the Electric Ballroom.

Public Image Limited are set to play the following dates:

December
15 Birmingham O2 Academy
16 Leeds O2 Academy
18 Glasgow O2 Academy
19 Manchester Academy
21 London Brixton O2 Academy
22 London Electric Ballroom
23 London Electric Ballroom
