Primal Scream are set to take their classic album ‘Screamadelica’ on the road after confirming a nationwide tour.
‘Screamadelica’ seems to sit on its own, as an almost unique album. Indie pop icons, Primal Scream had attempted to add some raw rock action to their sound but only succeeded in alienating their audience.
With their backs to the wall, Primal Scream were re-energised by Acid House. The scenes debauchery and ‘anything goes’ atmosphere shattered the way the band wrote songs, and provided renewed inspiration.
What emerged was a remarkable document which towered over anything produced by the Baggy scene. A cohesive mixture of dance and rock, Primal Scream hooked up with some top DJs and producers but kept true to their origins.
‘Screamadelica’ is one of the ultimate hymns to the midnight hour, blending country with soul, techno with house. A stunning document, the band are set to re-visit the album on some special shows later this year.
Playing two sold out dates at London’s Olympia, Primal Scream are set to take ‘Screamadelica’ on the road next year. Running throughout March, the 20th anniversary tour opens in Leeds on March 14th.
Moving across the country, Primal Scream are set to play Glasgow’s SECC on March 18th before finishing the shows in London’s Brixton Academy on March 25th.
Tickets are set to go on sale this Friday (October 1st).
