Legendary Bristol group Portishead have confirmed a number of continental dates, kicking off in June.
Could Portishead be stirring back into life? Geoff Barrow has been working at a furious pace with two projects already linger on the release schedule. Now the seminal Bristol group have confirmed plans for a short burst of continental shows.
In a Facebook posting the band outlined plans for five shows. The concerts will open in Spain, with Portishead planning to play two nights at the Poble Espanyol in Barcelona.
Hitting Vienne for a one off show, Portishead will then finish the short series of dates with two nights in Italy. Ending with a set in Rome’s Ippodromo delle Capannelle, this is the band’s first appearance on European soil for almost two years.
Tickets are on sale now.
All of which will add further fuel to the speculation that Portishead are working on their fourth album. Speaking to The Quietus recently, Geoff Barrow certainly seemed to give the impression that a stint in the studio was forthcoming.
“We’ve been getting together recently and talking about lots of stuff,” he said. “There’s definitely going to be another record, we’re just going to get on it as soon as my studio gets working.”
