Police are investigating a serious sexual assault at Latitude over the weekend.
The sexual assault is reported to have occurred late on Saturday evening (July 19th), with Suffolk Police explaining that a woman was attacked during 10pm – 11pm at the festival’s red camping area.
Specialist trained officers are working with the victim, with Suffolk Police urging festival goers who may have information to contact authorities.
Suffolk’s Police East Safeguarding Unit in Lowestoft are using the case reference 42731/19, while information on the incident can also be submitted online.
In the wake of the incident police issued the following statement to festival goers:
Stick with your friends and look out for each other.
Be careful.
Festivals give you the opportunity to meet new friends but going off alone with people who you’ve just met may lead you into situations you don’t want to be in.
Remember no means no.
There is safety in groups.
Set up camp near friends, make friends with your neighbours and learn the layout of the site so you can find what you need – toilets/ stewards, etc., without getting lost.
You can always ask staff for help with directions or anything else you may need.
Latitude closed last night (July 21st) with a headline set from Lana Del Rey.
