A pivotal figure in the evolution of UK funky, Roska has many strings to his bow.
The producer's Kicks & Snares imprint is a vital force in bass culture, gathering the splintered threads of dubstep, grime, funky and more. A man with broad tastes, for sure, but Roska knows that deep down each track, each release has to work on the dancefloor.
Returning to Fabric on June 13th for another Roska Presents… show, the producer will be joined by the likes of Artwork, Addison Groove and more.
Piecing together a playlist for Clash, here's what he chose…
Starting off with this one from Pedestrian. With this and with all of his productions its got kind of a soul element to each track that I can take away from each listen. The vibe of 'Hei Poa' is mellow with an amazing amount of space and clarity in the track.
I've been a fan of Appleblim and the Apple Pips label from 2008/9. With Laurie he's got that forward-thinking sound which always seems ahead of many still playing catch up with the latest. This one's a collaboration with Komon, I like this one because of it's raw drop and minimalistic edge to it.
When I first heard this one from Addison Groove I knew I would play it more than once or just on Rinse. Well crafted and another forward-thinking tune from the label Gutter Funk.
Artwork – man of endless music talent. This one was his latest remix I could find which shows versatility Arty is capable of. We all know him from the Magnetic Man projects. He's definitely one of my favourite selectors and no stranger to the Roska Presents shows at Fabric.
Last but not least it's Jamie George. He's a gifted songwriter and performs great along with me. This one is a collaboration with Hannah Wants and Chris Lorenzo – one of his recent works but always good to have Jamie on board the shows at Fabric.
