Pixies To Play London?

Rumors mount for Monday show

Seminal alt rock heroes Pixies are rumored to be appearing in London on Monday to play live, at the private party for the launch of their forthcoming box-set ‘Minotaur’.

A collection spanning their four album career, the release will cover highlights from 1988’s influential ‘Surfer Rosa’ album to their surf-pop-heavy ‘Bossanova’ release and more.

Black Francis and co. are all set to appear at the invite-only event in London, which is being billed as a ‘visual exploration’ of their music (sounds like a live set to us..) to celebrate ‘Minotaur’s’ release.

Pixies singer Black Francis recently spoke of the album’s release, and urged fans not to be too cynical:
“I realise to some people I may sound like a hypocrite because the Pixies are getting ready to release a box set. I think the limited edition version retails for $450. But that art already exists – the demand for that particular product has been researched by the people putting it out. If people don’t buy it, we’ll all be fools.”

As well as the possibility of the band playing at the album’s launch, The Pixies will also headline this year’s Isle Of Wight Festival (the day before the party) this weekend June 12-14th.
