Returning alt rock dons Pavement have added three extra dates to next year’s re-union shows in New York.
After years of rumour and idle speculation Pavement have confirmed their re-union. No ifs, not buts and definitely no maybes – this is legit!
Since splitting in 1999 the band’s members have gone down some unusual paths. Singer Stephen Malkmus has pursued a successful solo career, releasing several albums to overwhelming acclaim.
However others have left the music industry, with the members of Pavement splitting their time between touring and working in the computer programming industry. Putting aside their new plans for a jaunt down memory lane, the band recently confirmed a show in New York.
Due to take place in Central Park on September 21st – one year today! – tickets for the show went on sale on Friday (September 18th). Predictably enough, these sold out within a matter of seconds leaving countless fans disappointed.
So, by way of compensation, Pavement have added another show at the same venue. And another. And another.
In total, Pavement will now play four shows in Central Park between September 21st – 24th. Support is not yet known, with tickets due to go on sale shortly.
In related news, Scott Kannberg recently revealed that Pavement could yet play more dates. Speaking to Rolling Stone the guitarist claimed that an appearance at Coachella could well be on the cards.
