Paul McCartney Live Broadcast

From iconic New York Apollo venue

Paul McCartney is set to broadcast his show at New York’s Apollo venue live on the internet.

The Apollo is one of the most iconic venues left standing. The New York club housed greats from the world of black music, becoming one of the most prominent venues in Harlem during the golden years of soul.

Closely tied with James Brown, the Godfather of Soul recorded a total of three live albums at the venue. The Apollo is still a sought after venue, due to its acoustics, history and almost unique atmosphere.

Paul McCartney is set to play a special one off show at the New York venue as part of its 75th anniversary. Bringing his band to the Big Apple, the former Beatle will play a relatively intimate show by his standards.

The last time Paul McCartney played New York was in a new arena, built on the ashes of the Shea Stadium. Playing four nights at the Citi Field venue, the singer attracted tens of thousands of fans.

By contrast, the Apollo holds nowhere near that many. The Harlem venue is now part of the community, run on a not-for-profit basis. Due to host Paul McCartney in December 13th the entire show will be broadcast online.

Sirius XM will broadcast the show, with fans around the world able to tune into the one off concert.

Paul McCartney could be set to dominate the charts this Sunday, with The Beatles back catalogue now reaching iTunes. The band are enjoying strong sales, with ‘Abbey Road’ proving most popular.
