Fans of Paul McCartney have set up a makeshift village in Brazil ahead of his show in the country.
Paul McCartney retains a lasting allure. One half of the most successful songwriting partnership of all time, the singer has a back catalogue unrivalled by any other musician on the planet.
Announcing his first South American tour in almost two decades, Paul McCartney sparked scenes of joy across the continent. A hugely passionate area, South American fans are known for turning out in numbers.
The Rolling Stones recently played a free open air show in Brazil, attracting a vast crowd numbering hundreds of thousands of people. Now Paul McCartney has provoked similar scenes of devotion.
The singer played at the Beira Rio Stadium in Porto Alegre on Sunday (November 7th) attracting 66,000 fans. His first gig in Brazil for 18 years, the performance sparked immense loyalty amongst fans.
Eager to be the first through the door, some fans begun queuing last week. Forming a makeshift settlement, the South American press have dubbed the scene as ‘Paul McCartney Village’.
“I love South American audiences” Paul McCartney explained. “I always think I have Latin blood because I connect so strongly with their love of music and their love of rhythm and their love of melody, so I always feel like I have a very big bond with South American people and Latin people in general. So yeah, I’m bonding, man!”
Meanwhile, a spokesperson added: “It was an amazing site to see. People had been camping out for days just to ensure they could get the best position possible.”
Paul McCartney is set to play a series of South American tour dates. Ending just before Christmas, the singer continues with a show in Argentina tonight (November 10th) when he plays the River Plate Stadium in Buenos Aires.
