Sir Paul McCartney has announced a gig at London’s O2 Arena on December 22nd as part of a new European tour.
The gig, labelled ‘Good Evening London’, will be Macca’s only UK show this year and builds on the success of this Summer’s American tour which saw him stage a run of shows at New York’s Citi Field, former site of Shea Stadium and The Beatles famous appearance in 1965. Highlights from the Citi Field gigs are to be released on a CD/DVD release as ‘Good Evening New York City’.
The O2 gig is the last date of his European tour, ‘Good Evening Europe’, which begins in Hamburg on the 2nd December before taking in Berlin, Arnhem, Paris, Cologne and Dublin. Taking place on December 22nd, the O2 Arena show will be his first public appearance at the venue, 46 years to the day since The Beatles Christmas Show at Liverpool’s Empire Theatre.
Speaking about the tour, Paul said: “This is my chance to bring our current show home to where it all began. Starting in Hamburg, ending in London and rocking everywhere in between. I’m very much looking forward to ending the year on a high.”
Sources hint that the show will be McCartney’s last in the UK for a while and will, of course, be a perfect Christmas gift for any Beatles fan. Tickets go on sale on Monday 26th October via Ticketmaster. Phone 0844 856 0202 or visit http://www.ticketmaster.co.uk
