Patrick Wolf Fan Shares Scheme

Musician To Sell Shares In Album

London’s spectacular songwriter Patrick Wolf has announced innovative new plans to fund his forthcoming album, by attempting to sell shares to his fans.

The ‘Lycanthropy’ singer has been recording his new album, but has now begun using the website Bandstocks to help fund the album. The website allows fans to become a shareholder in a company – in this case the forthcoming ‘Battle’ album.

Costing fans £10 each, it has already proved to be popular. Wolf said of the venture that “it’s the beginning of the future for artists and musicians in the music industry. There’s no way we can rely on conglomerate, corporate companies anymore.”

“Basically, you can invest in the finishing of the album and the production of it, and you get a share in the album. So you almost become part of the record company, like a co-owner of the album.”

Of the album itself Wolf said “one disc is a pure nihilistic battle record, and the second is battles of love.”

Patrick Wolf’s new album ‘Battle’ will released in 2009.
