One of Britain’s most unusual and acclaimed songwriters Patrick Wolf is due to his showcase his new album with an acoustic set in New York next month.
Patrick Wolf is due to release his new album ‘The Bachelor’ later this year. The songwriter has been working on the new album for some time, at one point running out of funds and jeopardising its completion.
However Wolf crafted an unusual solution. Using the website Bandstocks the songwriter sold ‘shares’ in the album to fans, in return for personalised copies of the finished product.
Even that, though, wasn’t enough to get the album out in its intended form. Patrick Wolf had intended the material to be released as a double album titled ‘The Battle’ but it has now been split into two separate halves.
‘The Bachelor’ will be released this year, with sequel ‘The Conqueror’ due to hit the shops in 2010.
Patrick Wolf rarely plays shows in the United States, but is set to perform an exclusive acoustic show in Le Poisson Rouge next month. Wolf plans to return to the United States for a full tour this summer, and will take with him a six piece band.
Wolf says he is excited to show New York “how it all started by going there on my own with only a case full of instruments for company”.
