Pastels Album Launch

Indie dons return

Glaswegian indie legends The Pastels are due to launch their long awaited new album ‘Two Sunsets’.

The ghost of C86 lingers on. More than twenty years on from the epochal compilation the ethics of indie pop have more prominence than ever.

Groups such as Los Campesinos! have spoken loudly of their love of old school indie pop. Club nights such as Twee As Fuck have blended the original wave of groups with emerging talent, crafting a new type of indie that is truly independent.

One of the godfathers of the indie pop scene is set to return later this year. Led by Stephen McRobbie The Pastels are vastly influential, credited with kick starting what is now often labelled ‘twee’.

Blending 60s pop with the Velvet Underground and Orange Juice, the group’s recordings inspired new groups up and down the country. Hell, The Pastels almost forced equally influential band The Vaselines out of their bedroom and onto the stage.

After a self-enforced isolation The Pastels are now due to return with their latest album. Signed to Domino the near mythical ‘Two Sunsets’ is finally set for release after numerous delays and cancellations.

With The Pastels now including Teenage Fanclub hero Gerard Love the band are stronger than ever. The Glaswegian band have linked forced with J-Pop group Tenniscoats on ‘Two Sunsets’ which is a remarkable comeback.

Hailed by critics The Pastels have trailed the release with the track ‘Vivid Youth’ Watch the video here!

The Pastels are due to launch the album with a very rare London show. Hosted by Twee As Fuck the show sees the band joined by new indie pop upstarts such as Veronica Falls, who contain ex-members of The Royal We and Sexy Kids.

With a number of guest DJs and special surprises planned, this looks to be a grand return from The Pastels.

The Pastels have confirmed the following dates:

6 London Bush Hall
