Norway’s top summer event, the Øya Festival, has announced a stunning bill including 60s garage legends The Sonics, and shoegazing heroes My Bloody Valentine amongst others.
Norway greenest festival, Øya is set in picturesque Middelalderparken, just outside Oslo. With just 15,000 tickets available, the event is just a tenth the size of Glastonbury. Oya has gained a reputation as having an eclectic bill, and a friendly atmosphere.
As if four days in one of Europe’s most beautiful cities wasn’t enough, early arrivers will find a massive fringe event taking place the day before the festival launches. Around 30 venues in Oslo’s city centre will feature live music, including the hottest groups from Norway and beyond.
Also playing at this year’s Øya Festival are US alt rock dons Sonic Youth, hip hop team N.E.R.D., Holy Fuck and US singer Iron And Wine.
Øya Festival takes place in Middelalderparken, Oslo between August 5th – 9th.
