American indie giants Of Montreal are amongst the new additions to the Thom Yorke bolstered Latitude festival.
Taking place on England’s sunrise coast, Latitude has a bright and breezy approach to music. Combining musical legends with newcomers, the event has built a reputation for being extremely individual in a festival season increasingly dominated by extremely similar line ups.
This year’s headliners include some truly stellar talent. Pet Shop Boys recently picked up a Brit Award for ‘Outstanding Contribution To Music’, with the band’s sensational climactic performance becoming a massive talking point.
Joining the duo at the Suffolk event are the likes of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, as well as disco diva Grace Jones. A lavish and outrageous performer, Grace Jones’s return last year at Bestival was sensational containing almost as many costume changes as stellar hits.
Further down the line up returning epic indie types Editors are set to perform alongside Doves and Regina Spektor.
New additions to the bill include Of Montreal. Actually forming in Athens, Georgia the band took their name from a failed relationship before moving to New York. One of the prime movers behind the Elephant 6 collective, the band’s recent album ‘Skeletal Lamping’ has become their most successful to date.
Other new additions to the bill include Mirrors, Sky Larkin, St Vincent and Fever Ray alongside a host of others. A side project from Scandinavia’s icy electro duo The Knife, Fever Ray’s self-titled debut album bowled over critics earlier this year.
Yesterday (June 9th) organisers dropped the bombshell that Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke was set to perform a very special solo set at the event. Even after the release of his solo album ‘The Eraser’ the singer rarely performed on his own, making this a very special event.
With Radiohead only doing one festival this year, Thom Yorke’s set is sure to be one of the highlights of the summer.
Latitude is set to take place between July 16th – 19th.
