Manchester giants Oasis have suffered sound problems on the opening night of their three night stint in Wembley stadium.
Oasis confirmed details of their enormous British tour earlier this year. However since then the band have been dogged by bad luck, with illness and sound problems threatening to derail their tour.
After announcing support acts including The Enemy and Kasabian tickets flew out for the group’s biggest shows in a decade. However Liam Gallagher took exception to comment which The Enemy frontman Tom Clarke made in an interview.
Attacking the group via Twitter the Oasis icon made his feelings known. The Enemy were later forced to pull out of the opening night of the tour, with Tom Clarke allegedly suffering from food poisoning.
The band were no doubt relieved to be away from Heaton Park, however after the sound failed twice. Offering fans their money back, Oasis later insisted they were only joking with Noel Gallagher labelling fans “cheeky”.
Taking to the stage at Wembley last night (July 9th) hopes were high for a spectacular show. However part way through the band’s rendition of ‘Wonderwall’ the sound failed, with the audience finishing the song by themselves.
“Last time this happened it cost us half-a-million quid, so just to be clear none of you are getting your fucking money back,” Noel Gallagher declared from the stage. “Not you, not you, not you with the glasses!”
The Gallaghers also joked with band member Andy Bell, who was sporting enormous sunglasses. The pair laughed at the guitarist, claiming he “looks like he’s just come from the Jackson memorial”.
The brothers seemed on better form later in the show, with Liam Gallagher dedicating ‘Live Forever’ to The Verve’s singer Richard Ashcroft.
