A massive five day free entry music event has been launched with Nokia Skate Almighty set to return to the banks of the Thames.
Combining skate competitions with live music, Nokia Skate Almighty is one of the capital’s top free. Hosted in a specially designed rink, its roller disco theme is a fresh and funky take on a retro classic.
Open from August 5th – 9th, Nokia Skate Almighty will be open to allow thousands of fans to dance and skate (or possibly both at the same time) to some top live performances and DJ sets.
The rink is open during day, allowing even the youngest of fans to have fun on their skates. After 6pm each day, however, the fun really begins with some top names dropping by to get the party started.
Little Boots is one of the hottest names in British music, having topped the BBC’s influential ‘Sound Of 2009’ poll. The electro pixie is gearing up to release her debut album ‘Hands’ soon, and fans can get a preview of her material with a special performance.
Joining the diminutive singer at the event is Calvin Harris. Hailing from Dumfries, the Scottish dance producer scored a massive hit earlier this year with ‘I’m Not Alone’. A salute to the euphoria of old skool rave, the track has become a summer anthem.
Also set to perform are London group The Rakes, who recently returned with their third album. Brighton’s harmonious polka dot clad girl group The Pipettes are due to stop by, while the Queens Of Noize are due to work the crowd with a DJ set.
To get skating, fans need to visit the official Nokia website. Tickets will be strictly limited, with each fan given a one hour skate time slot. Entrance to Nokia Skate Almighty will be via mobile ticket and requires a simple swipe of your mobile phone onsite.
As an added little bonus each person who signs up for the event will receive a free voucher to spend in the Nokia Music Store.
Nokia Skate Almighty takes place in London between August 5th – 9th.
