Noel Gallagher / Paul McCartney Catch Up

Noel Gallagher has revealed that he recently met up with Paul McCartney backstage before a show in Milan.

It’s no secret that Noel Gallagher is a fan of the Beatles. During his spell in Oasis, the songwriter even went as far as to hire Zac Starkey – Ringo Starr’s son – to sit in on drums. So when the guitarist found that he was in Milan at the same time as Sir Paul McCartney, Noel Gallagher couldn’t resist attempting to meet up with his long time idol.

Slinking backstage, the pair caught up with Noel Gallagher later recounting the tale on his blog. “I’m like a small boy when s*** like that happens. And he’s a true gentleman. The f***in’ daddy.”

Paul McCartney is mid-way through a European tour. The former Beatle is completing a new leg of his ‘On The Run’ jaunt which has so far seen him play to countless thousand fans on several different continents. Set to finish the year with a number of massive concerts, the singer has confirmed a trio of typically huge British dates in the run up to Christmas.

Finishing with a show at Liverpool’s Echo Arena on December 20th, the short burst of dates also include a show at the O2 Arena. A venue which often divides fans, Paul McCartney is apparently a fan having rehearsed previously in the Millennium Dome. “Yes, I love the O2, it’s one of London’s great venues. I think one of the things I like about it is that before the O2 arena was built, we rehearsed in what was then the Millennium Dome. I remember my promoter bringing round an American guy who said, ‘We are going to build an arena within this dome’. And we all thought it was a great idea, and now that it’s a reality, it’s especially cool to play.”

Continuing, Paul McCartney revealed that he watched the one off Led Zeppelin re-union at the O2 Arena back in 2007. “I’ve seen some good people there. I saw the Zeppelin reunion that was there. That was amazing. I’ve seen it from both sides and it’s a great place to play. It’s always great to play in London. It’s the home ground and it’s always nice to be home.”

Paul McCartney is set to play the following shows:

December
5 London O2 Arena
19 Manchester MEN Arena
20 Liverpool Echo Arena
