Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher is due to join Amorphous Androgynous for a very special one off show.
Beneath that dad-rock exterior lies a psychedelic warrior. While Britpop heroes Oasis may be branded as lumped retro stylists, guitarist Noel Gallagher has never been afraid to experiment with new styles.
Recently Noel Gallagher has been praising some way out sounds from the 60s and 70s. A vocal fan of the DJ crew Amorphous Androgynous, the guitarist recently curated a compilation for iTunes which had plenty of lost nuggets from the psychedelic era.
Gallagher even went as far as inviting the DJ team to remix the Oasis track ‘Falling Down’. The result was a head-spinning brew of psych and Krautrock, stretching the Manchester band’s music to an astonishing twenty minutes.
Amorphous Androgynous are due to release a new compilation soon. Titled ‘A Monstrous Psychedelic Bubble In Your Mind – Volume 2: Pagan Love Vibrations’ the album is due to be released on October 26th.
The duo will launch the compilation with a very special show in London’s matter venue, part of the O2 Arena complex. Amorphous Androgynous will be joined by Noel Gallagher for the show, which includes some very special guests.
Alongside the DJ crew genuine psych legends Hawkwind are set to appear. As well as giving the world Lemmy the group scored a Top Ten hit with ‘Silver Machine’, temporarily storming the barriers of the mainstream.
Also due to perform are reformed psych-folk heroes Comus. A pivotal influence on the Wyrd Folk movement, Comus have been name-checked by the likes of Devendra Banhart – who coincidentally has also remixed Oasis.
DJ support on the night will come from crate digger and Twisted Nerve boss Andy Votel, who will be joined by Gaz Cobain and Sitar Freakout.
Amorphous Androgynous will launch their new album with the following date:
