It’s now official – Nine Inch Nails are almost over, with Trent Reznor confirming the band’s last ever shows.
Effectively a rolling cast surrounding Trent Reznor, Nine Inch Nails are a hugely successful industrial rock juggernaut. The band have lasted over two decades, seeing out trends with their brand of intense rock ‘n’ roll.
Continually evolving, outspoken frontman Trent Reznor clearly believes he has taken the project as far as he can. Earlier this year the singer announced he was placing Nine Inch Nails on hiatus, following a lengthy world tour.
Last month the band played a headline set at Bonnaroo in Tennessee, and Reznor took a moment to reflect on the group’s final show at a United States festival. Touring with fellow rock behemoths Jane’s Addiction, Nine Inch Nails have now turned their attentions towards Europe.
The band are set to play a number of European dates, including a host of festivals. This weekend alone Nine Inch Nails are set to headline T In The Park before making the short journey to Ireland’s Oxegen event.
Now it seems that Trent Reznor is making plans for the band’s final farewell. In a new message the singer confirmed that Nine Inch Nails would headline Canada’s Virgin Festival in Torono – although the event has yet to confirm a date.
Nine Inch Nails have yet to confirm the specific dates for the shows, but the band are due to begin a short United States tour on August 22nd. Starting in New York the group will then travel to Chicago before winding down with a series of dates in Los Angeles.
Intriguingly, The Horrors have been invited to support Nine Inch Nails at the New York shows. Earlier this year Trent Reznor told fans that he was a big fan of the London garage-goth band’s second album ‘Primary Colours’.
Writing on the band’s official website Trent Reznor said that he wanted to play a series of intimate shows. “They will be informal affairs in medium to small venues with longer setlists, possible special guests, cool openers and other surprises,” he wrote.
“Upon reflection, the NIN/JA tour felt like we had to rush through sets due to a limited allotted set length and many shows were in daylight – it just didn’t feel right to end NIN that way.”
Reznor also claimed that Nine Inch Nails could yet add more shows to their schedule.
