Nina Nastasia is set to release her new single ‘You Can Take Your Time’ ahead of an upcoming UK tour.
With her soft voice and near breath-taking intensity, Nina Nastasia’s live shows take on a life of their own. Now working with a backing band, the singer often introduces new material into her set some years before they get officially recorded.
Such was case with ‘You Can Take Your Time’. The New York singer has performed the track for some time, twisting and turning the melody to fit several different arrangements.
Sitting down to record her new album last year, Nina Nastasia noticed that a few old tracks fitted in well with the direction she was moving in. ‘You Can Take Your Time’ was given a lush, sweeping arrangement in keeping with the album’s theme of redemption.
The track is now set to gain a new lease of life as a single, with ‘You Can Take Your Time’ set to be released on December 6th. Backed with the rather more recent track ‘One Turn In’ the single is a great introduction to the New York singer.
Often labelled ‘sparse’ and ‘lean’ last year’s album saw Nina Nastasia push away these adjectives. The songwriter favoured more lush arrangements, but the intensity of her vocals remained.
The single will coincide with a number of tour dates, opening in Cardiff on November 29th. Travelling around Europe, Nina Nastasia aims to complete an extensive tour of Britain running through to December.
Dates in Nottingham, Leeds, Cambridge and more are set to follow before finishing in Dublin on December 10th.
