Returning nu rave types New Young Pony Club have confirmed details of their upcoming UK tour.
It’s strange how some bands make sense everywhere but in their homeland. Take Art Brut – massive in Germany, the art punks acerbic take on DC comics and chocolate milkshake tends to fall on deaf ears in Blighty.
Formed in England, New Young Pony Club’s mixture of dance and rock made them stand out against their peers. The band attracted attention from a tiny Irish label before Australian juggernauts Modular took them under their wing.
Releasing their debut album ‘Fantastic Playroom’ in 2007 the group polarised opinion. New Young Pony Club attracted a devoted following, and were propelled into the nominations for the Mercury music prize.
Touring widely, the band decided to take some time off before working on new material. Returning to the studio earlier this year New Young Pony Club have completed their eagerly awaited second album.
Due for release on March 1st the band’s new album ‘The Optimist’ is the work of an older, yet also wider New Young Pony Club. Fans have been given a teaser of new material with a forthcoming free download.
The track ‘Lost A Girl’ is due to be released on Monday (December 14th) and comes as the band unveil a lengthy new tour. Setting off around the country, New Young Pony Club are set to play the following dates:
