Glam-punk pioneers New York Dolls have added three extra dates to their upcoming UK tour.
New York Dolls are one of the great lost bands in pop history. Injecting some real sleaze into glam rock the band inadvertently lit the fuse for punk rock, with their raucous sound and outrageous image.
However nothing that unstable could last for long. After just two albums the band imploded, sparking a series of solo projects. Guitarist Johnny Thunders succumbed to heroin while singer David Johanson had a semi-successful acting career.
Super fan Morrissey sparked a comeback when he asked them to play the Meltdown festival in London’s Southbank Centre. The indie icon was a huge fan of the band, even forming the British branch of the New York Dolls fan club.
The band duly reformed for one show, and enjoyed themselves so much that they are still touring four years later. New York Dolls recently completed a new album, their first with producer Todd Rundgren since their debut.
Still thrilling, New York Dolls have mastered the age old art of sounding dangerous, looking dangerous and above all being dangerous.
Organising a UK tour for the winter the band are set to expand their schedule with the addition of three more dates. New York Dolls will now play Leamington Spa, Liverpool and Edinburgh in addition to previously announced shows.
New York Dolls are set to play the following dates:
December
8 Leamington Spa Assembly
9 Liverpool O2 Academy
10 Edinburgh HMV Picture House
