Canadian indie rockers The New Pornographers have confirmed details of a short UK tour.
A loose knit collective, The New Pornographers only seem to get together once every so often. However when they do – such as on new album ‘Together’ – the results are always spectacular.
Released earlier this year, ‘Together’ features the New Pornographers on fine form. Joined by some special guests, close friends such as Annie Clark (St. Vincent), Will Sheff (Okkervil River) and Zach Condon (Beirut) all dropped by the studio.
With their intelligent brand of power pop, The New Pornographers have built a reputation as being a thought provoking yet melodic combo. Confirming British dates for later in the summer, the band have now revealed a secret KISS fetish.
Speaking to Pitchfork, AC Newman claimed that he was a massive fan of the make up clad rockers in his youth. “I always remember it because I was terrified of Kiss as a child, but then something flipped in my head and I decided I wasn’t terrified – that actually I loved them” he explained.
“For a few years after that, I was just obsessed with Kiss and my room was covered with Kiss posters.”
The new dates include a slot at the Electric Picnic, Ireland’s alternative festival. After this, The New Pornographers will travel across the Irish sea to begin a British tour which finishes with a one off London show on December 9th.
The New Pornographers are set to play the following shows:
September
5 Ireland Electric Picnic Festival
7 Glasgow Oran Mor
8 Manchester Ruby Lounge
9 Brighton Concorde 2
10 Dorset End Of The Road Festival
December
9 London Shepherd’s Bush Empire
