Legendary Canadian songwriter Neil Young has been confirmed as one of the headliners for this year’s Isle Of Wight festival.
One of the most acclaimed songwriters on the planet, Neil Young’s career stretches from his early recordings with Buffalo Springfield to his latest album ‘Fork In The Road’.
A concept album about a futuristic car, it features some typically unwieldy electric guitar from Young. The title track has begun streaming on the artist’s official site and is backed by a bizarre new video.
Young’s appearance harks back to the events hippy origins. The first incarnation of the Isle Of Wight festival was in the early 70s and boasted sets from Bob Dylan and Jimi Hendrix, amongst others.
“I have tried every year since we restarted the festival to book Neil Young,” explained festival organiser John Giddings. “His music is part of my life and has inspired generations ever since. I’m sure that his performance will be talked about for years to come.”
Last year’s Isle of Wight festival contained headline performances from The Sex Pistols and The Police.
Isle Of Wight festival takes place between June 12th – 14th.
