Neil Young has unveiled the line up for the annual Bridge School Benefit which runs between October 22nd – 23rd.
Known as one of the grouchiest men in rock, Neil Young also has a charitable side. The singer’s son Ben was born with learning difficulties, and was forced to attend a series of specialist schools.
Frustrated by their failure to find an adequate school, Neil Young and his wife Pegi founded their own. The Bridge School began in 1986, and has served the needs of countless children across a 25 year period.
Each year, Neil Young organised a benefit concert for the school with some famous guests volunteering their services. 2011 promises to be no exception, with the Canadian singer curating an eclectic bill.
Foo Fighters are set to perform, having spent the bulk of the year on the road. Recently packing out the Milton Keynes Bowl, the band have saved one of their most intimate shows for the Bridge School.
Canadian giants Arcade Fire have agreed to take part, following their return from Haiti. Playing a number of intimate shows across the island, the full band have dedicated their services to the concert.
Elsewhere, Beck is set to play a solo set while Jenny Lewis will also take part. Latin supergroup Los Invisibles have been booked to perform, with Carlos Santana set to lead the band through an epic set.
All funds from the weekend’s shows are set to be donated to the Bridge School, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.
