My Latest Novel Tour

Scots group confirm dates

Charming, literate and deeply Scottish My Latest Novel have confirmed a number of UK tour dates.

Since Arcade Fire made it cool to craft rock music using accordions and violins, it seems as if there has been a flood of bands from Caledonia intent on following in their Canadian’s cousins footsteps.

My Latest Novel were perhaps earlier, and definitely more talented, than most. Hailing from Greenock, a rough and tumble town near Glasgow, the band matched a romantic heart with music that rose and ebbed like the tide.

The band’s sound uses traditional rock instruments but mixes these with violins, xylophones and other left field devices. My Morning Jacket’s multi-layered vocal style disguises the lyrics whilst hinting at an emotional depth that could match the Atlantic.

Debut album ‘Wolves’ was showered in critical praise, and saw the band bring their intense live show to venues across the UK. Signed to celebrated independent label Bella Union the band have been hard at work recently on crafting a follow up.

Titled ‘Deaths And Entrances’ the new album by My Latest Novel does not shy away from big themes. Vast in sound and scope, the band’s new material stands as perhaps their strongest to date.

According to singer Gary Deveny of My Latest Novel the album was “a title before it was an album – and a poem before it was a title… By Dylan Thomas… We loved how vast it was, and it seemed to sum up exactly what we wanted to do next. It gave us something to aim for.”

My Latest Novel have confirmed an appearance at the Summer Sundae Weekender. Held in the shadow of Leicester’s grand De Montford Hall this is the perfect setting for the group, with the sun setting behind the magisterial estate.

Other performers scheduled for Summer Sundae Weekender include The Zutons, The Streets and many more. The Midlands biggest live music event, Summer Sundae Weekender is one of the true highlights of the festival season.

Alongside this are a series of Scottish dates. Taking in special album launch shows in Glasgow and Edinburgh, the tour sees My Latest Novel flexing their live muscles at long last.
