My Bloody Valentine For ATP

Iconic group to curate event

Those scamps at All Tomorrow’s Parties have done it again, pulling off a massive coup by unveiling My Bloody Valentine as the curators for this year’s Nightmare Before Christmas.

A blast of noise and fun just as the winter chill is beginning to set in, Nightmare Before Christmas recruits some stellar bands to a Butlin’s resort clouded in the first snows of December.

My Bloody Valentine are old friends of ATP, having curated the inaugural ATP New York event. The band are loved by music fans for their thrilling blended of noise, glorious harmony and extreme volume.

The band are famously so loud that specialist ear-plugs are handed out before their show. Joining the group on the bill are a select bunch of hand picked artists who have each, in their own way, helped re-define how we listen to music.

Sonic Youth emerged from the No Wave scene, and injected sprawling noise with the sound and structure of classic rock. An American rock institution, the band will make a rare visit to the UK for Nightmare Before Christmas.

Joining the fun are hip hop pioneers De La Soul and EPMD. The two golden age rap groups will share the weekend with Sun Ra Arkestra, who are sadly lacking Sun Ra after he travelled back to his homeland on Saturn.

Last, but by not means least, are The Horrors. The buzz surrounding the band’s second album ‘Primary Colours’ is reaching fever pitch with some already tipping it as a contender for those ‘Album Of The Year’ polls.

As ever, ATP combines a great atmosphere with wonderful accommodation. Many of the bands stay onsite, meaning that you could well end up sleeping next door to one of your heroes. Which would be nice.

ATP: Nightmare Before Christmas will be curated by My Bloody Valentine and takes place between December 4th – 6th.
