British indie folk group Mumford & Sons have struggled to reach SXSW, battling missed flights and a peanut allergy.
The group are due to release their debut album later this year, and had confirmed a number of slots at the Texas showcase event. However, their plans were thrown into disarray after missing their flight.
Singer Laura Marling confirmed the news onstage at the Latitude 30 venue on March 18th. The singer is closely tied with the group, who previously backed her onstage and play on her debut album ‘Alas, I Cannot Swim’.
Marling has planned to play with Mumford And Sons’ Marcus Johnstone before a twist of fate ruined their plans. The singer told the crowd that Mumford and Sons had got their times mixed up – turning up for a flight from New York 12 hours earlier than needed.
Unfortunately it only got worse for the band as Ben Lovett was forced to leave the flight before take off due to a peanut allergy. Instead of collaboration Marling played solo, impressing the crowds with tracks from her album.
“Theres a lot of us English folkies out here, make sure you see us all,” she told the crowd, explaining that Mumford and Sons were on their way to the festival.
