Indie-folk types Mumford And Sons have put on their thinking caps to organise a new hoedown themed launch party for their new album.
Mumford and Sons are yet another group to emerge from London’s vibrant open mic circuit. Forming in late 2007 the band began as Laura Marling’s backing group before striking out on their own.
The two acts remain close, however, and have frequently performed together. Mumford And Sons specialise in lilting indie-folk, with pastoral melodies linked to Winston Marshall’s sighing lyrics.
A series of EP releases turned Mumford And Sons into cult heroes, before being snapped up by Island Records. The label turns 50 this year and seems to show no signs of losing their touch with Mumford And Sons new album due shortly.
Titled ‘Sigh No More’ the album is a superb validation of the hype surrounding Mumford And Sons. Touring extensively the band recently returned from a support slot with The Maccabees, where their new material was met with a frenzied reaction by fans.
Now the band have confirmed details of the launch party for their album. Mumford And Sons are set to hold a hoedown for 500 fans at Lordship Farm in Standon.
Held on October 5th the Hertfordshire event will take place on the same day the band’s debut album is released. The gig will also feature barn dance act Cut-A-Shine with tickets going on sale from September 28th.
Priced at £10 the ticket also includes travel from London out to the farm. For more information visit the Mumford And Sons MySpace page!
