English indie folk strummers Mumford And Sons have added an extra London date to their upcoming tour.
While 2009 has not been marked by overnight sensations the year has seen a number of new acts reaching a much deserved plateau of acclaim.
Take Mumford And Sons. The indie folk stars first emerged on London’s buoyant open mic circuit, playing shows alongside then-unknown singers such as Laura Marling. The two acts have a close association, with Mumford And Sons acting as Marling’s backing band on occasion.
Releasing a string of limited edition EPs last year, Mumford And Sons have now signed to Island recordings. Celebrating its 50th anniversary the label has secured a slow burning hit, with Mumford And Sons gathering a cult following.
Launching their debut album with a special barn dance at a location outside of London, Mumford And Sons were stunned when the record almost broke into the Top Ten. Containing all the songcraft of acts such as Fleet Foxes their harmonious yet melancholic sound is the perfect soundtrack to Autumn’s descent.
Since then the band have confirmed a special date in a London church as part of Christmas festivities. Confirming a massive new UK tour, Mumford And Sons have decided to add another London date to the schedule.
Playing Shepherd’s Bush Empire on March 14th, tickets for the tour went on sale on Friday (November 27th).
