Morrissey Vs Kylie

Manc Moaner Wins Over Wireless

Melancholic Mancunian minstrel Morrisey stormed the O2 Wireless event with a stunning set that appeared to include a dig at pop princess Kylie Minogue.

The singer, fresh from legal battles with both Word Magazine and NME, was on vitriolic form in a set that previewed new material as well as visiting some of the more rare artifacts from his back catalogue. Morrissey congratulated Kylie Minogue on her recent OBE in a sarcastic fashion, drawing laughter and cheers form the crowd.

The festival was set in London’s Hyde Park, and featured a host of acts. Each night had one main headliner and a support bill picked by that artist. Morrissey was supported by, amongst others, Beck, The Rascals and Dirty Pretty Things.

Morrissey chose the occasion to debut material from his forthcoming album “Years Of Refusal”. The singer also delved into his extensive back catalogue, performing the 1985 B-side “Rubber Ring” as well as the album tracks “Vicar In A Tutu” and “What She Said”.

Expect some in-depth analysis of O2 Wireless in the following days.
