Morrissey Cancels Further Shows

London / Salisbury gigs pulled

Mancunian minstrel Morrissey has another excuse to be miserable after cancelling yet more shows on his UK tour.

Morrissey has struggled with his health of late. The singer released his new album ‘Years Of Refusal’ earlier this year, a stunning return by the indie icon. The one time Smiths singer endured a torrid time after a controversial interview last year, but seems to have channelled his anger into his songwriting.

Opening a North American tour, Morrissey was forced to cancel a number of dates due to poor health. It now seems that the singer has still not shaken off those problems, with a series of British performances being cancelled.

Morrissey pulled dates in London’s Royal Albert Hall and Birmingham’s Symphony Hall a few weeks ago, citing throat problems. The singer re-arranged those dates for later this year, adding a number of extra performances to meet fan demand.

However it appears as if the singer is not quite on the mend yet. In a statement Morrissey’s spokesperson said apologised for further cancellations, which are set to affect gigs in London and Salisbury.

“Morrissey is on doctor’s orders to postpone the show, to ensure a complete recuperation,” she said.

“Event organisers would like to apologise to fans for the disappointment and are working to reschedule this show, so advise ticket holders to hang on to their tickets.”

Morrissey is due to open a three night residency in London’s O2 Academy Brixton this weekend – it is not known is the singer will be fit enough to perform.

Of course, this isn’t the piece of drama Morrissey has been involved in recently. The former Smiths frontman was booked to play Coachella in the United States yet sensationally walked off stage half way during his set.

The singer returned a few minutes later, complaining that he had been over whelmed by the smell of nearby burger stalls. Morrissey, as well all know, is a staunch vegetarian and a keen supporter of animal rights.

Morrissey has yet to announce re-scheduled dates for London and Salisbury shows.
