Morrissey Cancellations Continue

Singer postpones Brum gig

Legendary indie singer Morrissey has been forced to cancel yet another live appearance, this time in Birmingham’s Symphony Hall.

Morrissey doesn’t like to make a habit of cancelling shows. Well into his third decade in show business the singer is a consummate professional, playing vast tours that acts half his age would baulk at.

However some things are beyond the pale in the eyes of Morrissey. A recent headlining show at Coachella festival in the United States saw the singer storm off stage due to the over powering smell of the nearby burger stalls.

The staunch vegetarian had suffered all he could stand, and departed to recover his senses before returning to complete a sensational set. Morrissey is currently on tour to promote his new album ‘Years Of Refusal’, described by some a ranking amongst the finest of his solo output.

Putting paid to those pesky Smiths re-union rumours, the singer embarked on a mammoth world tour, but almost immediately ran into problems. The opening dates on the North American leg of the tour were cancelled due to health problems, but Morrissey recovered in order to give some splendid performances.

However it seems as if the singer’s health problems may have returned, as recently Morrissey was advised to postpone a show at London’s Royal Albert Hall on the advice of doctors.

It had been hoped that Morrissey would be able to complete the rest of the tour, but it seems that tomorrow’s show (May 13th) in Birmingham must also now be cancelled.

A statement from the singer’s spokesperson said “Morrissey is on continued doctor’s orders to rest, to ensure a complete recuperation.”

“Event Organizers would like to apologize to fans for the disappointment and are working to reschedule this show and the London Royal Albert Hall show, so advise ticket holders to hang on to their tickets.”

There has been no announcement on how Morrissey’s health problems will affect the rest of the tour.

Get well soon Morrissey!
