More Fun For Summer Sundae

Leicester event adds new attractions

The aptly named Summer Sundae Weekender has added a host of new attractions, including a host of top talent and a new family zone.

Held in Leicester’s historic De Montford Hall, the Summer Sundae Weekender is the biggest outdoor musical event in the Midlands. With spectacular surroundings, the festival is only a short walk away from the city centre and has a wonderful family orientated atmosphere.

No fear of your kids seeing something they shouldn’t at this bash, with organisers introducing a new chill out area named The Garden. A beautiful family sanctuary, The Garden is an oasis of calm at the festival. Hosted by a giant scarecrow, The Garden also features a reworking of the Mad Hatter’s tea party involving musical chairs, musical statues, cabaret dancers and games galore.

In addition to this Summer Sundae has added cult favourite the Silent Disco, while during the evening the spoken word Phrased and Confused tent will be turned into a cinema which stays open until 1am.

However it’s the music that Summer Sundae will be judged on, so it’s just as well organisers have managed to grab a number of special performers. The Streets recently surprised fans by released new material via Twitter, so expect to hear some of those alongside familiar classics.

Joining Mike Skinner at the Leicester event will be The Charlatans, who are set for an extremely busy summer season including curating a tent at the Isle Of Wight festival. The Zutons have been left without a record label, but the Liverpool group are still loved by thousands upon thousands of music fans, who will rush to De Montford Hall for their Deltasonic defying performance.

Also on the bill for this year’s event are the likes of Bon Iver, Mystery Jets and Saint Etienne – who recently announced a number of celebrations for their debut album.

Summer Sundae also supports new talent with the likes of Dan Black, Micachu And The Shapes and The Noisettes also set to perform.

Summer Sundae Weekender takes place between August 14th – 16th.
