A new tribute show to Michael Jackson has been organised with contributions from Mary J Blige, Akon, Chris Brown and more.
Michael Jackson’s death has been followed by almost unprecedented mourning amongst high profile entertainers. Revered by those who came after him, Jackson’s record breaking achievements raised the bar for everyone in the music industry.
At a memorial service in Los Angeles a number of star performers paid tribute to Jackson through their music. The singer’s music was re-created by the likes of Stevie Wonder, Chris Brown and Beyonce.
However it seems as if the tributes are set to continue throughout the year. A new show being organised by the singer’s brother Jermaine Jackson is in preparation for Austria in September this year.
Taking place in Schoenbrunn Castle on September 26th, the Austrian event has already generated huge interest amongst Michael Jackson’s fans. Confirmed performers include Mary J Blige, Akon and Chris Brown.
Sister Sledge has also agreed to perform, with the Vienna concert set to attract a huge number of fans. Reuters reports that a total of 25 acts will perform on the night.
In an interview on Larry King Live Jackson’s brother Jermaine claimed that the show was inspired by his brother’s love of castles. “He loved castles. And we’re going to have this huge celebration in front of a castle,” he said.
This isn’t the only tribute to Michael Jackson in the pipeline. On the singer’s birthday fans around the world held spontaneous tributes, with Mexico City boasting the planet’s largest performance of ‘Thriller’ with over one thousand people being involved.
