Fans of Michael Jackson received some rare good news today (June 23rd) when the singer placed extra tickets for his O2 Arena residency on sale.
Being a Michael Jackson fan is a more stressful occupation than a stunt car driver. Sure, it might lack the speed of a high octane car chase but in recent times the King of Pop’s career has had plenty of ups and downs.
After money problems began to bite Jackson was forced to up sticks and sell his Neverland ranch. Moving to Los Angeles, the singer was forced into the ignominy of selling off some of his personal possessions.
Everything from a limo to the Neverland gates were up for sale, with fans flocking to the sale just to catch a glimpse of the star’s artefacts. However a spectacular turnaround was in the offing when Michael Jackson organised a press conference at the O2 Arena earlier this year.
Announcing a spectacular residency, the singer caught the public’s imagination in a fashion not seen for over a decade. Demand for tickets reached hysterical levels, until Michael Jackson faced performing a total of fifty nights in the area.
Which is where the problems started. After admitting to fans outside of a Los Angeles gym that he felt unprepared for the mammoth undertaking Michael Jackson cancelled the opening nights of the run.
Now almost a month overdue, the residency is fast becoming a farce with many openly doubting whether Michael Jackson will go through with the concerts. Not only that but a legal threat from an American promoter means that Jackson could be forced to cancel the entire run.
However in a rare burst of sunshine Michael Jackson has announced that extra tickets will be made available tomorrow (June 24th) via a lottery scheme. Fans who have registered on Jackson’s official website will be able to enter the lottery, with all tickets being for seated areas.
In other news, a statement on behalf of the singer revealed that Michael Jackson will be wearing a custom built outfit at the concerts containing 300,000 Swarovski crystals.
Michael Jackson is due to begin his O2 Arena residency on July 13th.
