King of Pop Michael Jackson has added to his much talked about residency in the O2 Arena, with the singer set to play an extra night.
Announced last week, Michael Jackson’s spell at the O2 Arena has become the most talked about live music event in some time. Hundreds of fans attended the news conference announcing the shows, and since then the hype has been insatiable.
Initially announcing ten performances, some commentators have been predicting that this will be massively increased to meet demand. Residencies of up to fifty nights have been quoted, with pop guru Pete Waterman wondering if the singer’s health will hold.
Jackson has added one more date to his residency. Beginning on July 8th, this latest show is set to take place on August 19th, with insiders have hinting that Jackson will embark on a world tour following the London dates.
The Sun has even gone as far to suggest that the singer is planning to release a new single before the residency begins. Since news broke about the event fans have inundated the star’s website, which at one point recorded over 10,000 visitors per second.
At 7am this morning (March 11th) fans joined the pre-sale process on the official Michael Jackson website, causing it to briefly crash. Tickets for the event don’t actually go on sale until Friday (March 13th).
Michael Jackson will begin his O2 Arena residency on June 8th.
