Brooklyn space cadets MGMT paid tribute to Oasis with a special cover during their slot at the weekend’s V Festival.
MGMT broke through last year with their debut album ‘Oracular Spectacular’. A mash up of psych-rock and electro-pop it spawned the dancefloor smash ‘Kids’ and its distinctive singalong riff.
Since then the band have become firm festival favourites, with MGMT playing a number of summer events. The Brooklyn group played a both V Festival sites, and took the time to pay their respects to Oasis.
The Manchester played at the same time as MGMT on August 22nd, but we forced to pull out of the Stafford leg due to singer Liam Gallagher falling ill with laryngitis. The news shocked fans and bands alike, with Snow Patrol becoming the new headliners.
A number of groups played Oasis covers throughout the weekend. Timid trio Keane covered the band, hoping that Liam Gallagher gets better soon.
