Maximo Park Let Fans Choose Set List

Glastonbury show has unusual twist

It’s not often that bands can claim a ‘first’ at Glastonbury – but that’s exactly what Maximo Park will be doing this summer.

The Worthy Farm event is always looking to expand, and recently introduced the William Green Stage. A new area to soak up live music, it will be opened on Thursday (June 25th) by Newcastle punk-funk tykes Maximo Park.

Eager to make the occasion as special as possible Maximo Park have asked fans to choose their set list. Yes, hit singles, rare B-sides and dodgy cover versions – you name it and they’ll play it.

The group released their third album ‘Quicken The Heart’ earlier this year. A stunning return, it proved that Maximo Park still have the bite that made them so irresistible the first time round.

At a recent free entry show in their hometown of Newcastle thousands of fans had to be turned away, as the band rattled through some favourites. With plenty of hits behind them, fans will be spoilt for choice.

Singer Paul Smith said in a statement “we were trying to decide what songs to play over the two sets and we thought why not let the public decide. We wanted the show to be fun and we don’t like to take ourselves too seriously. All of our songs were written for a reason, so we’ll be happy to play any one of them”.

To vote, fans need to visit the band’s Facebook profile HERE. Better hurry, though, as the voting ends on June 24th with the results to be unveiled the following day.

Maximo Park are set to add a little more spice to the event with a new competition. Fans who head down the the stage a little early should carry flags and t-shirts with the band’s name on, and then send photos of themselves to the group’s Facebook page.

Lucky winners will receive an extremely special and completely secret prize!

Maximo Park are set to play Glastonbury on June 25th.
