With their new album ‘Quicken The Heart’ racking up a 9/10 in the new issue of Clash Magazine and a recent string of sold out live dates under their belts, Maximo Park are set to return – and will spend the day in their hometown on 11th May to mark the occasion.
The day will kick off with a signing session and Q&A at the Newcastle HMV on Northumberland Street (6pm), wristbands for which can be collected from the store at 8:30 am onwards.
With their third album set for release on 11th May, the band will play the Newcastle Star And Shadow Cinema on the same day, also screening their film ‘Monument’.
120 fans will be able to buy wristbands (for a nifty £3 a pop) from the City’s RPM Records from 9th May, two days before the show and album release.
Led by bowler-hatted Paul Smith, the band’s new record sees them return to the urgency of jittering punk-funk debut ‘A Certain Trigger’ – lead single ‘The Kids Are Sick Again’ impressed Radio 1’s Zane Lowe so much he spun it twice – a rare occurrence.
