Massive Attack have been allowed to curate this year’s Meltdown, and to be frank the bill for the June 14th – 22nd event looks astonishing.
Massive Attack will be performing twice themselves, and have assembled a stunning cast of performers who have inspired them over the years. Amongst the many highlights are a special acoustic reggae night featuring Jamaican legends Prince Malachi and Horace Andy (a former Massive Attack collaborator). Elsewhere, performances have been confirmed from Elbow, Stiff Little Fingers, The Shortwave Set and Grace Jones. In a unique double bill, two reformed legends of the post-punk era will team up when Gang Of Four and The Tom Tom Club perform together.
The Meltdown Festival also showcases cinema, and this year will host special screenings of “The Night James Brown Saved Boston” and “Taxi To The Dark Side” amongst others.
With that list barely scratching the surface of what must surely be one of the most exciting line ups of the year, tickets will be scarce on the ground.
The Meltdown Festival takes place in the South Bank Centre between June 14th – 22nd.
